Catherine and Michael lead star-studded hotel opening gala
Oscar-winning husband and wife team Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas headed up a host of stars celebrating the opening of a luxury hotel on Saturday.
Catherine, who brought glamour to the red carpet in a gold dress and strappy sandals, joined her husband in hosting a christening concert for the new $700 million hotel casino.
After an exclusive cocktail party the pair introduced the musicians to an audience that included Jennifer Aniston's new beau John Mayer - who took to the stage with R&B star Alicia Keys.
John, 30, who was born in Connecticut where the opening was held, was clearly glad to be in his home state. "I thought I'd be older before I started playing in casinos but this is great," he joked. "Connecticut is still home."
A recent recipient of a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, Sean Combs also helped the hotel's celebrations get underway by hosting a late-night party for the MGM opening.
Also arriving in Connecticut for the gala evening was actress Jenny McCarthy, dressed in a fitted taupe coloured sheath. Attending the bash without actor love Jim Carrey, who was busy filming, Jenny called the new casino "a little secret hideaway". "But I'll be home tomorrow by 3pm, in time for my son's birthday party," she added.

NEW DELHI: Come January 2009 and India will see two-time Oscar winner Michael Douglas come here to start shooting his first Indo-US joint venture, Racing the Monsoon . This is a sequel to the biggest hit of 1984, Romancing the Stone , and the lacklustre Jewel of the Nile (1985).
Touted as an action adventure revolving around a diamond robbery in India, Racing the Monsoon will also feature Douglas’ wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Matt Damon.

Michael Douglas e catherine Zeta-Jones irão estrelar Racing The Monsoon
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones to co-star in film Racing The Monsoon
The star couple will relocate their family to India to film Racing The Monsoon, an action adventure about a diamond heist on board an Indian train.
The £30 million film, which will also feature Matt Damon, will be the first fully-fledged Hollywood-Bollywood co-production.
"I'm looking forward to going to India," Zeta-Jones said.
"Michael and I are developing a script that will be set in India. We will take our kids and all of us will come there, set up camp in India and shoot a film."
It will be the first time the Hollywood couple have reunited on screen since co-starring in the critically-acclaimed Traffic in 2000.
Douglas' Further Films and Indian production house Percept Picture Company will jointly finance the film.
Douglas has previously shown an interest in incorporating song and dance routines, considered mandatory in Indian films.
"I have had an interesting and wonderful education in Indian music and the movie better have some songs," Douglas said.
"India is making a large impact in the US, be it culture, design, fashion or films which are splashed everywhere in the world. I have been closely following and studying Indian culture and I'm fascinated by it.
"When the subject of films came up, Percept showed an interest. As I was looking for partners in India to do films here, I was happy things worked out."
The film will be be shot in Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaisalmer, and will reportedly be directed by Steve Carr, of Daddy Day Care and Doctor Doolittle 2.
